Jacinta D. Jones
Jacinta D. Jones is a native of Bethel, North Carolina. She completed her undergraduate degree in Sociology and African American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009, and earned a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from North Carolina Central University School of Law in May 2012. Jacinta became licensed to practice law in North Carolina in August 2012, and worked with attorney Watsi Sutton in Washington, NC before joining the Clemons Law Firm in September 2013. During her time in law school, Jacinta focused the majority of her studies and legal experience on family law and civil litigation. Jacinta interned with the Durham County Attorney’s Office in the Social Services division during her second year of law school, and worked as a research assistant at the Center for Child and Family Health in Durham, NC during the summer before her third year of law school. In these positions, Jacinta gained a wealth of knowledge in the areas of child abuse and neglect law as well as experience with appellate work. Jacinta later went on to broaden her experiences with child and family law by taking legal writing courses geared toward divorce and child custody processes from start to finish. As a member of the North Carolina Central Law Review, Jacinta was selected to publish an article on recent developments in North Carolina’s child custody laws. Jacinta also worked as a teaching assistant where she instructed students in the basics of personal injury law while maintaining several academic scholarships. In May 2011, Jacinta was awarded a scholarship by the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys for outstanding leadership. As an eastern North Carolina native, Jacinta is eager to develop her legal career in Washington, NC and the surrounding areas. Jacinta’s practice will focus on divorce, child custody, estate planning, abuse/ neglect/ dependency defense, juvenile defense, traffic law and civil litigation. Jacinta looks forward to helping children and families create the futures that they most desire for themselves.
